As part of its mandate to sensitize stakeholders and the general public on its activities, the Bank organized an Exporter Enlightenment Programme for the North West zone at the Katsina State Local Government Auditorium on Monday 7th & Tuesday 8th January, 2019.
With the Theme; theme’’ Actualizing the Produce, Add Value & Export Philosophy-Focus on the North West Region, The forum was aimed at promoting non-oil export development in Nigeria through capacity building and dissemination of pertinent trade & Market information among intending exporters, stakeholders and key players in the export value chain.
In his welcome Address the MD/CEO NEXIM, Mr. Abba Bello commended participants and representatives of the various heads of Government/ partner agencies present and expressed his delight and appreciation to the Special Guest of Honour, the Executive Governor of Katsina Stake Rt. Hon Aminu Bello Masari ably represented by the Hon. Commission of Abubakar Yusuf.
The MD applauded the Katsina Sate Government for the steady progress achieved in the state with particular regards to the Agricultural Restoration Programme launched under the current administration to promote agricultural productivity and Argo-allied industries. He further emphasized on NEXIM Bank’s objective under the State Export Development Programme and the One State, One Commodity Initiative to promote Industrial development, economic diversification and job creation in Katsina State.
Paper presentations were delivered by relevant Government agencies such as the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration& Control (NAFDAC) Nigerian Incentive Risk-Based Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMDRA) and the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON).
The event climaxed with the signing of an MOU between NEXIM Bank and SMEDAN to provide Trainings, Capacity Building and Funding for exporters under the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).
