The Nigerian Export-Import (NEXIM) Bank during an event to mark the 2021 International Women’s Day celebrated globally on March 8 launched the Women and Youth Export Facility (WAYEF) which is designed to stimulate and increase deliberate funding to Women and Youth in the non-oil exports value-chain. The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of NEXIM Bank, Abubakar Abba Bello stated this in his remarks at the event held on the 30th of March,2021 at Sheraton Hotel Abuja.
The MD further noted that over the years, the bank has provided enormous support for many export-oriented industries that are high employers of women and youths such as cashew, shea, hibiscus, ginger among others, where a lot of women are involved in cleaning and packaging of products for export.” He ended by underscoring the need for enhanced efforts towards addressing cultural practices and other obnoxious beliefs that have imposed limitations on the female gender.
In attendance at the event among other dignitaries was the Hon. Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen who commended the management of NEXIM bank for putting together such a facility for the benefit of women and youths and, called on all female executives in financial institutions and other Nigerian organizations to emulate NEXIM bank by coming up with facilities that would empower women and youths who are the most vulnerable segment of the society.
